One of the easiest ways to figure out what type of skin you have, is to wash your face with a gentle cleanser and then wait 30 minutes before applying any other products. After these 30 minutes, evaluate your skin. Does it feel tight and dry? If yes, you likey have dry skin. Are you feeling oily all over or is the oil felt just in your “T-zone” (the T shaped area made up of your forehead, nose and chin)? If you are feeling all over oil, you probably fall under the oily skin category, but if it is just in your “T zone” then that could classify your skin as a combination. Or lastly, does your skin feel normal? This is the rarest answer but if this is you, you have balanced skin.

This is why we always encourage you to apply your sunscreen and skin care products all the way down your neck and décolletage to combat signs of premature aging. Most people are surprised by how little of each product you may need, what’s more important is the quality of your skincare! For cleansers, all you need is about the size of a nickel. Although you are likely using more than one serum, for each you should only need about 3-4 drops or a pea sized amount. To apply your eye cream, gently tap a pea sized amount of product from your under-eye area to the brow bone by using your ring finger. Eye creams are concentrated products and therefore you really don’t need much! Moving on to moisturizer, this may differ depending on the thickness of the product but about the size of a quarter should be adequate. Lastly, sunscreen! This is non negotiable, if you think you don’t need it or don’t like the finish it leaves, you need to try a new product. Sunscreen should be applied every morning no matter the weather or season. You need to use enough SPF to cover both your index and middle finger minimum before applying to your face, neck and hands, but of course, add more as needed! If you follow these guidelines your products should last you 2-3 months!
