Peel Season is Finally Here!

It’s time to undo any damage from the summer season and get you ready for that holiday glow. Fall and winter are the best times to receive chemical peels as the temperatures are cooler, it’s darker out for longer, and the UV levels are lower. This makes it the easiest time for you to recover during the down time after your peel. Once recovered, you can expect to enjoy radiant, smoother, brighter, younger, glowing skin!

Why should I get a Chemical Peel!

Our skin turnover cycle can take anywhere from 21-42 days depending on various factors such as age or hormones. As this cycle slows down, it can cause your skin to appear dry or dull along with several other signs of aging. Chemical peels deliver active ingredients into the deeper layers of your skin, much further than your products at home can. This stimulates the collagen and elastin production that takes place in your dermis – which also drastically slows down as we age. Collagen is responsible for keeping your skin firm, while elastin is responsible for providing elasticity to your skin. Together, they keep your skin looking plump and youthful. To really fight the signs of aging, it is important to stimulate those cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin.

BLUR Chemical Peels:

Here at BLUR we offer 3 different types of medical-grade chemical peels. Our peels are all self-neutralizing, meaning we do not remove them or apply a neutralizer once they’ve been applied to your skin. This mitigates the risk of burns that could happen from leaving a peel on too long. It also means there is no added discomfort to you that can happen from a drastic change in your pH when a neutralizer is applied.

All of our peels include dermaplaning before application, to allow the peel to penetrate even deeper and leave you with an even brighter glow! For the best possible results, we recommend receiving several peels in a series. We offer a great discount when you pre-purchase a 3-pack of peels, giving you the best results.

Go & Glow Peel $125

This peel is great to help boost radiance and natural glow from within through gentle chemical exfoliation. There is little to no downtime with this peel, making it a great option for an instant added glow right before a big event. If you’ve never received a chemical peel before, this peel is the perfect starting point. The Go & Glow can be received as often as one a week!

Active Peel $150

This peel has a formula containing 30% Salicylic Acid, which is perfect for targeting active acne, refining larger pores, and improving skin texture. If you’re dealing with stubborn acne that you just can’t seem to get rid of, a series of this peel will help exfoliate off the dead skin and excess oil to clear out your pores. We recommend spacing out the Active peel 3-6 weeks apart when doing a series.

Advanced Corrective Peel $250

This deeper peel contains Phenylethyl Resorcinol to help reduce the appearance of discoloration, Salicylic Acid to reduce and combat acne, and Lactic Acid to exfoliate the skin for increased radiance. This option is great for those really wanting to target pigmentation, moderate signs of aging, and skin tone/texture. We recommend spacing out the Advanced Corrective peel 4-6 weeks apart when doing a series.

What to Expect After Your Peel:

Due to the chemicals in the peel, your skin may appear slightly discord immediately following your peel treatment – light yellow, red or tan. This is temporary and will fade quickly. Depending on the strength of peel you receive, it is completely normal to experience redness, warmth, tightness, dryness, or peeling/flaking on the face. All of this is completely normal!

The level of actual peeling your skin goes through is dependent on factors such as the strength of the peel, your skin type and condition, age, hormones, etc. How much your skin actually peels is not a factor in determining how successful your peel is. So don’t be worried if you don’t end up peeling as much as you thought you would!

To achieve optimal results, we recommend pairing your medical grade peel treatments with medical grade skincare. This is the best combo to not only start seeing results as soon as possible, but to keep your skin healthy and youthful in the future!

What to Avoid After Your Peel:

  • Do not apply any products or water to the face for at least 4 hours post peel.
  • Avoid applying makeup for 24 hours post peel
  • Avoid any activities that could cause sweating or excessive heat exposure for 3 days post peel (working out, hot tubs, saunas, steam, etc.)
  • Do not pick, rub, scratch or scrub any flaking skin during the peeling/healing process!
  • Do not use any products containing active ingredients or exfoliants for 2 weeks post peel (retinol, AHAs/BHAs, scrubs, etc.)
  • Do not receive any facial treatments for 2 weeks post peel, ideally 4 weeks.
  • Avoid direct sunlight and limit sun exposure for 2 weeks post peel. This is SO important as your skin is extra sensitive to UV rays immediately after a peel.
